Producer Prices

The CPI tracks the prices charged to consumers, i.e. the prices you pay when you buy groceries, household supplies, and other goods and services. However, these prices may be distorted by taxes (e.g. SST), excise duties, subsidies, and transport costs. Therefore, to get a different view on the cost of goods in the Malaysian economy, DOSM tracks the prices received by producers for 1,063 items, at the first stage of commercialization. This data is published as the Producer Price Index.
