The index is compiled based on the average price change for Clothing & Footwear items collected according to price collection centers in each state in Malaysia.
Core inflation measures changes in the prices of all goods and services, excluding volatile items of fresh food as well as administered prices of goods by the government.

Malaysia's Consumer Price Index (CPI) is a monthly publication which presents statistics covering 12 main groups of goods and services. This is consistent with the classification according to the United Nations "Classification of Individual Consumption According to Purpose (COICOP)".
